The pinion brake kit is designed for vehicles that have after market rear differentials installed which don’t allow the factory E brake to be used. When swapping from rear drum brakes to disc brakes, sometimes the stock parking brake is not retained. Some off-road vehicles can have to much rear travel in the rear suspension for the factory E brake to work. In all of these situations A pinion brake is an excellent and safe way of assuring you will have a back up braking system.
